Road Construction & Pavement Rehabilitation Tools
Explore professional diamond saw blades and road milling tools for asphalt cutting, concrete pavement sawing, surface rehabilitation and road maintenance projects. Select tools by material, machine requirements and working conditions.
Tooling for Different Pavement Construction Tasks
Road construction and rehabilitation projects can involve multiple cutting and removal stages. Each stage calls for correctly matched tooling.
Asphalt Sawing
Cut asphalt pavement for repair boundaries, trenches, utility installations and other approved road work.
Concrete Pavement Cutting
Saw cured concrete pavement using the appropriate bond, blade dimensions and machine capacity.
Asphalt Milling
Remove existing pavement material with compatible road milling picks and milling drums.
Pavement Maintenance
Perform selected grooving, slot cutting, loop cutting and other maintenance operations using dedicated blades.
Three Core Road Construction Tool Groups
Match the cutting or milling operation before selecting the individual product.
Asphalt Diamond Blades
Asphalt is an abrasive cutting material. Appropriate blade bond and core protection are important for wear management.
- Asphalt-specific diamond bond
- Undercut protection on selected designs
- Wet or dry models according to rating
- High-speed and walk-behind saw configurations
Professional Concrete Diamond Blades
Concrete pavement requires blade selection according to aggregate, material condition and saw power.
- Premium and Supreme professional ranges
- Application-specific bond choices
- Machine-power matching
- Concrete and reinforcement ratings must be verified
Carbide Road Milling Picks
Milling picks are replaceable cutting components installed in compatible road milling equipment.
- Asphalt milling pick families
- Tungsten carbide cutting tips
- Machine- and holder-specific fitment
- Shank and retention groove verification

Machine power ranges and dimensions refer to recorded ALSKAR product families. These are not universal compatibility approvals. Always follow the specific product and equipment instructions.
Blade Speed and Mounting: Never exceed the marked maximum RPM of a diamond blade. Verify the machine's permitted blade size, flange, arbor, guarding and cooling method.
Milling Equipment: Confirm the installed toolholder and retainer before selecting a carbide milling pick. Matching shank diameter alone is insufficient.

Road Construction Tool Selection FAQs
Answers to common questions about asphalt blades, concrete saws, milling picks and professional purchasing.
What is the difference between an asphalt blade and a concrete blade?
Asphalt and concrete have different cutting and wear characteristics. Asphalt blades often require a suitable wear-resistant bond and undercut protection. Concrete blades require bond selection based on aggregate hardness and the condition of the concrete.
Can one diamond blade cut asphalt and concrete?
Only when the selected model is explicitly rated for both materials. A blade marketed for green concrete is not automatically suitable for all cured concrete conditions.
How do I select a blade for a walk-behind pavement saw?
Confirm the saw's power range, maximum permitted blade diameter, arbor, rated speed and cooling method. Then match the blade construction and bond to the pavement.
What is undercut protection on an asphalt diamond blade?
Undercut protection helps address wear of the blade core near the segment attachment area when cutting abrasive materials. The appropriate design depends on the application.
Can I use a concrete blade for reinforced pavement?
Select a diamond blade specifically rated for the concrete condition and reinforcement encountered. Product grade or laser welding alone does not guarantee suitability for rebar.
Are SW4, SW5 and SW6 road milling picks interchangeable?
Not automatically. Head and carbide tip geometry, shank dimensions, retaining grooves and milling holder requirements must be checked. Select the exact product reference approved for the equipment.
Does SW4-G/20 have a version without a groove?
The recorded ALSKAR SW4 product configuration is SW4-G/20, with groove only. Do not substitute another shank design without confirming the exact holder requirements.
What information should I provide when ordering milling picks?
Provide the milling machine model, existing pick or OEM reference, shank dimensions, head and tip configuration, groove design and required quantity. Reference drawings can help verify fitment.
Does ALSKAR support contractor and bulk purchasing?
ALSKAR accepts professional and bulk purchasing inquiries. Provide your project requirements through the Wholesale & Professional Supply page for review and quotation.
Can international road contractors request quotations?
Yes. International customers may submit direct business inquiries. Availability, shipping and commercial terms must be confirmed through quotation. Standard online checkout is intended for eligible United States orders.
